Hello there, I am Sophie
A project manager and a parent, currently living abroad in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a fresh chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t in the long-term plan. Like many relocation stories, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should have been.
The Transition Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the go. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and began creating something that felt stable.
What Prompted the Creation of ThreadCodexMeadow
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, everyday family perspectives.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What this site represents (and what it does not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to reach out.
Cheers,
Sophie
